An enthralling performer and excellent communicator, philanthropist and tireless traveller, Ernest So has an extremely refined, versatile and innovative relationship with the piano. His broad repertoire, an extraordinary capacity for assimilation and a propensity for musicological research, enable him to present performances that are always captivating and original, often featuring unpublished works and rarities. Born in Hong Kong, following his training and having received initial success in Asia, Ernest So studied at the Juilliard School in New York under the guidance of Jacob Lateiner, Solomon Mikowsky, Constance Keene and Jonathan Feldman. In addition to a busy concert schedule, spanning from East to West, Ernest So dedicates much of his time to teaching as an honorary professor at various universities from the UK to China. On top of a profound interest in piano manufacturing technology, he has a passion for charity work: his personal efforts have seen more than 30 schools built in the Chinese provinces of Gansu, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hunan and Guangdong, giving thousands of disadvantaged students an opportunity to receive support and scholarships. The original programme that he will perform vividly presents him as a true “global citizen”.

His poise at the piano evokes the brilliance and energy of a 19th-century pianist.
