First Prize at the 2014 Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, Second Prize, Audience Prize and Critics Award at the 2011 Busoni Competition in Bolzano, winner of the 2014 “Prix du piano Interlaken classic” in Bern: these are just a few of the many acknowledgements collected by the 29-year-old Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi during his brilliant career. Critics have claimed that “there is something absolutely disarming and personal about him, which goes beyond the boundaries of art”. Maybe exactly for this reason, in 2014 he was invited by Martha Argerich to perform at her Festival Progetto in Lugano. He earned great acclaim for his performances at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Gasteig in Munich, the International Chopin Piano Festival in Duszniki-Zdroj (Poland) and in many other European and American concert halls. He is also very active in the recording studio. In 2010, he recorded his first CD released by Naxos feat. music by Scarlatti, Ravel, Debussy, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky and Mateos. The German label CAvi music released his “Pictures at an exhibition” by Mussorgsky as well as works by Scriabin and, more recently, the complete Sonatas by the Russian Composer Galina Ulstvolskaya.

Baryshevskyi’s style is extremely personal, timbrically rich and full of suspense. He really seems to have lived the music he plays, and he makes us live it. And in this he is exceptional.
